In the four decades since she decided to begin a medical career, it has been clear that Dr. Gail Weingast was made for a career in medicine, especially in radiology. Following medical school, Dr. Weingast completed a two-year pediatrics internship at Colorado General Hospital in Denver and followed that by completing a two-year presidency program in pediatrics and another residency in the field of radiology, which she completed in 1983, the same year she completed a fellowship in the field of ultrasound.
Dr. Gail Weingast then completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver. It took her a while to get to C0nnecticut, but she’s been at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut for about 20 years now, and she has transformed her department into one of the best in the country, if not the world. She values every aspect of her career journey for one primary reason; it all contributed to making her the highly respected physician she is today.
